Poly fest recount

Have you ever been to Polyfest? Do you know what Polyfest is? Well if you don’t you have come to the right place. Polyfest is a cultural performance performed by thousands and thousands of college students. Polyfest is normally held across New zealand, It is a three day event in auckland. It gives the college kids the chance to represent their culture and try to compete to see which group is better at showing their culture in many ways. Well now that you know what Polyfest is, I am going to tell you all about what we did at polyfest wednesday.

We got on the bus and we were on our way. It wasn’t a long ride but it was alright, when we arrived at polyfest we saw a lot of different schools and we had to wait in a long line full of school kids. When we got to the gate we received polyfest rest bands and they were important or else we couldn’t go into the premises. We got in and went straight to the niuean stage I recognised the niuean stage because My cousin performed on the stage for auckland girls grammar. Anyways, we sat down near the stage but no one was performing we had a meeting and then after the meeting we were Free!

The first thing that we did and the thing i loved was all the activities. Our first activity was flava the radio channel, with flava we got to learn some cool dance moves from professional dancers. Our second activity was with the fire safety people, they gave us some questions about how to be firewise and we had to answer them correctly. If all of our answers were correct we would go in to the draw to win a prize. Our next activity was with AUT (auckland university of technology) and we were making cool dance moves. After we danced with the AUT students we got a free gift from them. Our last activity was with the election people, We learned who does what. Like, what Jacinda Ardern does and what Phil Goff does. We learnt when your allowed to enroll to vote and when your allowed to vote.

I also loved polyfest because of all the free stuff we got. After most of the activities we got some free stuff, some of the stuff was because we asked for them. After the election place we got a free rest band, we also got sunglasses from the ministry of education for answering some questions, then we got a free Tee-shirt from radio samoa for showing off our cool dance moves and lastly we got a temporary moko and pacifica tattoo.

My favourite bit about polyfest was the Maori stage ( kapa haka). Why? Well Kapa haka is my culture and I love watching people perform their style of dancing and showing off their culture to many many people. We also saw a person from fresh on the kapa haka stage and she was one of the hosts. Also bethan (a fellow friend) won a prize from the hosts, They asked anyone for one maori word and she got picked to answer the question. Unfortunately I forgot the word that she said but fortunately she won the prize. I thought that was cool.

So after that exciting day we came home with a lot of free things and some great memories. Overall polyfest was an awesome experience and I would definitely recommend going to see polyfest and watching all the stages.

Satire writing || School Is just the best!||

Warning what you are about to read is not true. Again it is not true! In writing we are doing satire So this is my attempt to it. Also read it in a sarcastic way to understand. 

School is just the Best!

Don’t you just love school? All the teachers giving out hard work and having to finish it by the end
of the week. I just love that! Also only having a short amount of time to eat, so I get home and I’m
starving. Mann I wish I could just live at school! I think that school is amazing and Not like a kid
prison at all! School for me is like another donald trump, because everyone loves him . I  Also
love Doing homework because it is my favourite thing to do when I’m not at school, not like I got
any other things to do.  Whenever I have trainings or family dinners I definitely finish My work after.
Home work is the best! There is nothing in the world that I would want to do except my homework.
The one thing that I hate the most about school is… Lunchtime! All the kids smiling, laughing, playing
and having fun. “ARGGHHH DISGUSTING!” I just wished we had no breaks in school.
Overall School is The best!

How to save money

How to save Money: By Naomi penu

DO you know how to save money? Why is money so important to us? Do you want to learn how to save money? If so, you’ve come to the right place.

Firstly, you can start by using less power and less water usage. By using less power and water it saves you from paying a lot of money for the bills. This means you can make a limit of how long you can go on social media or how long you have a shower.

You can also save money by sticking to a budget.  For example you can have a limit on what you want to buy and how much you want to spend. Also sticking to a budget means you can’t spend over the amount you put down, Because you put it there for a reason. But don’t spend it on things you don’t need only spend it on the things you need.

Lastly you can get a savings account. You can have one spending account and one savings account by having a savings account you can put money in, BUT DON’T TAKE IT OUT! You can spend it but only for a good reason.

These are my points on how to save money and if you follow these steps then you might be able to save money. If these points helped you i would be really happy but if they don’t…. I’m just a kid!

Athletics day

Athletics day is a day full of activities and in those activities you get placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd of how far you throw or how fast you are. Athletics is a fun day and we have a variety of games to play and after lunch the fast people from each house color races in a relay. House colors are colors that you are put into and race or get points for that team.

What is Musical madness? Well, if that’s what you're wondering,  that’s what I’m going to explain to you. Musical madness is our music term theme for this  term ( the last term of the year).  I think it’s going to be fun!

his term our theme is Musical madness is all about music...of course! But in the immersion assembly  other teams were performing and showing movies, those movies show what they are going to do this term. I bet they're having fun already. From hearing the school theme I knew it was all about music and believe it or not I love music!

Alien description

 Task description: This is My alien description presentation and it is all about me describing what the alien looks like. it is also trying to help me use descriptive writing.

Star dome

Have you been to stardome? Well Me and my classmates went to stardome and it was really cheap! We went there because our theme this term is all about space and star dome gave us more information about space. It is a small gallery and has a lot of things that are kid friendly.

But before all of that happened we went onto the park well at least the small park. It was cool because we also got to go on the flying fox. So then after 10 mins on the park we then lined up in our groups and My parent helper was my friend’s mum, her name was Lose. So we went in and it was a cool and small planetarium.

We had 15 mins of exploring the planetarium and it was cool because it had buttons that activated the machines. We were looking everywhere and heaps of the stuff were cool and have had a lot of information. Then after that 15 minutes we went into the space room and then we learned more about space and planets. Then we got handed an iPad and had to answer the questions and try and look for the answer in the planetarium.

So then after our scavenger hunt we had to line up again and then the fun bit happened. We went into the movie room and I got to say it was very cool. While we watched the movie in the dome it was kind of giving me a headache and not just me Mrs Stickland got movie sick.

I learnt that if you try and search for another planet it is gonna be worthless so the best option is just to stay with earth and just clean it up. I also learnt that a dirty snowball is also another name for comet.  It was pretty fun and cheap but the thing I love most was playing on the flying fox and learning with our teacher.

Eating Crickets

Have you ever eaten dead unflavoured crickets at school before? Well I have a teacher who I think is out of her mind because she actually gave us crickets. This morning in our class I thought it was going to be a normal day. But it wasn’t.

Just spectating was horrible, watching people cringe and spit it out was enough for me. As I started to eat it I could feel the flakey texture and was so disgusted by the looks of it. It was so disgusting and gross I never wanted to eat it ever again. Just when I thought I was never going to taste it  … I was absolutely wrong.

We made a class on air video with Mr Goodwin and we had to try tasting the crickets without making a disgusted face. It was impossible. Even trying it with Nutella I couldn’t get the thought out of my head, that I actually ate crickets.

This was a once in a lifetime thing… hopefully. Today was a little weird. I would be surprised if you try crickets and get disgusted, just like i did. But also How I said that I was grossed out by it I actually ate 19 crickets

Task description: This task was actually real and we did eat real dead crickets! Our focus for this lesson was to recount an experience, focussing on the use of interesting vocabulary and out use of descriptive language.

grass leaper VS Blue talied spider

Once on a garden there were some beautiful plants and some not so beautiful insects/spiders. The grass leaper was minding it’s own business and a blue tailed spider came out of nowhere and was looking for his prey. The grass leaper was also looking for it’s prey as well and was getting a little bit scared at the spider and was looking a little nauseous.

The big scary spider was also as scared as the grass leaper because the grass leaper was a little bit scary as well. They were both circling each other and as they stopped the grass leaper jumped on the other leaf and began to run away from the unfriendly spider.  As the two different species were fighting a fury ginger cat came out the door.

The cat came outside and then the spider and the grass leaper teamed up and then tried to eat the cat.  They got their hopes up that they would get the big delicious cat and the cat was chasing the two and then… The cat ate them.  

Newspaper towers

Walt: write a recount about our experience.

Would you want to spend 5 minutes building a tower… out of newspapers?  Well my teacher might be crazy, because he thought that newspapers can stand free. On its own.

When I was told we were making towers made out of papers (from Mr Goodwin) I had no idea what I was going to plan. We had to get in groups of 4-6. Anyways when we were on the mat and I was thinking in My head what to do while he was talking. He nearly caught me.

n our groups of 6 there was Daisy,Amelia,Makayla,Paikea, Trendy and Me (Naomi) . As we got into our groups we got handed a sheet of paper to plan in. We all shared our Ideas into the paper, but some of us still needed to be confident and speak up. We had a great plan to make the paper into little balls and then build up.

As I was talking about our great plan, it failed. So we started another plan we put the little balls at the bottom and then got the other papers and rolled them up, we put them like they were little tubs. We were rushing and rushing because we wanted the big prize (the prize for the winners) . But as the time went by our tower started to fall and our big creation failed.

This was a very fun and noisy lesson making a paper tower is really hard. But the thing I liked about it was the teamwork we had to do to build the tower, because everybody was cooperating with each other and it was really cool. The thing that we need to work on more to build the tower was trying to build it. But it really didn’t matter who won because the prize was glory.

Task description: Yesterday our class got the chance to become builders and we built a tower... a newspaper tower. We had to build a paper tower free standing. So whoever won wins a big prize and that prize was not big nor cool it was glory.

chicken flavored worms

Walt: write quality introductions.

Would you be keen to eat a chicken flavored worm? Because I have no idea where my real teacher went?, and today this crazy guy fed us chicken flavored worms. This was no ordinary writing lesson.

Task Description: In this task we each got to try chicken flavored noodles but we pretended to make it seem as worms. We each wrote sentences separate and then pasted it into a blog post. We gave ourselves a score out of 1 to 4 as you can see the rubric above.

The last day of school for 2016

Hello Again Today was probably the most saddest day of the year because I had to say goodbye to the best school, teachers and friends. Today was also sad Because The yr 8 people were leaving it was so sad that this was the last time seeing them because they were crying because they did not want to leave this beautiful. I did not want to leave either but we had to I also cried because My home room teacher was leaving and because I will not see my friends until 2017.

MOTAT adventure

Getting off the bus Me and Jorelle are busting to go toilet we ask the teacher and run straight down. Coming out of the toilet “where’s our class” we look everywhere and we still can’t find them we looked in the gaming room, the village and still did not find them. We started to panic we checked in the toilets and no students.

As the time passed we saw the students getting on the bus we run as fast as are legs could go. We ran and ran but we missed the bus. Stuck at Motat. Looking around Me and Jorelle were wondering what to do next.  We were panicking and panicking and didn’t know what to do.

We ran to the gaming room and BOOM! The lights turned off. They were screaming and they didn’t know were each other were. Running around to see where they were jorelle falls and faints on the ground. “Oh No”.“Naomi Naomi Get up and get ready for school or your gonna be late” Said My Mum “What where am I aren’t I at motat?” I replied. “That was a dream” Mum said and I replied “  Oh”.

Task description: This is a fake story about My crazy adventure at M.o.t.a.t we could pick any of our friends or teachers to be alone and stay the night there. Why we did this is because we had to write an adventure but in a full narrative.

Tuesday Science day

Hello again this post is from now but I actually finished it on Tuesday so it was from team 4's science day.

Olympics

Hi everybody today was so fun. Why? We had our own Pt England Olympics and I know the Olympics were last term but it got postponed to this term. Well today we had a lot of cool and fun activity's planned out for us and also there were a lot of teams I was representing Fiji even though I am not Fijian. Today we played a lot of funny and cool games like volleyball and dodge ball because we kept on missing the ball on volley and then we couldn't dodge on dodge ball. After playing those games we all had prize giving and they said the teams that won and it was FIJI My team we were jumping for joy and the winners got a prize it was lollies.

Make kindness go viral everybody

Hi everyone today has been a great day why because i had a good sleep, good breakfast and also it was a nice and sunny day.  Today I showed kindness to my dad he had a long hard morning well not long but hard morning laying concrete. We came home and there was a lot of clothes to fold so I was a good girl and folded all of the clothes. and here is a picture.

   Also I know he won't be looking at my blog but I would like to say Happy birthday to my Nice funny Uncle and his name is Rick so it is my Uncle Rick He is turning __.
